Presbyterian Women's News

Pat Mesta,  Moderator

For more than 200 years, Presbyterian women have played a vital role in the mission and ministry of the Presbyterian Church (USA). That continues today at the Church, Presbytery, Synod, and Church wide levels through Presbyterian Women. Many Presbyterian Women in Western North Carolina are involved in circles, conduct Bible studies, are active in their communities, and contribute in ways large and small which impact the world. Presbyterian Women truly endeavor to live out the Presbyterian Women Purpose, which follows.

Presbyterian Women Purpose
Forgiven and freed by God in Jesus Christ, and
Empowered by the Holy Sprit, we commit ourselves:
To nurture our faith through prayer and Bible study,
To support the mission of the church worldwide,
To work for justice and peace,
To build an inclusive, caring community of women
That strengthens the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.),
And witnesses to the promise of God’s Kingdom.

Any women interested in joining one of the
Circles are welcome.  Please check out all of the
and then decide which one you would like to join.

 Lovely Ladies Lunch
(for all FPC women and friends)
No lunch this month.

Highlights from the 2017 PW Thank Offering Luncheon

Although December is upon us, the holiday season began with a bang when, on November 4, Presbyterian Women at FPC had their first Autumn Luncheon: Women helping Women! With a lovely plate of salads and muffins, prepared by various circle members under the guidance of our chef, Jim McInnes, and expertly served by members of Presbyterian Men from our church, we had a fabulous time visiting and sharing lunch. Our focus was to raise money for the Thank Offering for grants for women serving their congregations in the U.S. and around the world. From the tickets sold (92) for the lunch, and the auction tickets ($1.00 each) for items donated and mostly made by our congregation, and private cash offerings from those unable to attend, we have netted approximately $1500.00.

We want to thank our luncheon team, Brenda Kraft, Barbara McInnes, and Jane Renfroe; our chef and his assistant, Sandy Geary, and our dessert chef, Susan Blaydes; the men, as our servers, and all women who served as table hostesses,  and every person who donated auction  items. What a wonderful Christ-filled effort
